HTA 75 invites you to join our information session on programs and services we provide.

Would you like more personalized support in order to achieve your goals? Would you like someone to help guide you towards the right training and job-skills upgrading programs?

You will be connected to a case management expert who will help guide you in order for you to have the tools needed to obtain meaningful employment and be connected to useful social services.

You must attend an info session prior to participating in our other workshops.

Meet virtually with an Employment Advisor to discuss your short- and long-term goals. Virtual workshops on Improving your Resume, Mastering the Most Common Interview Questions, and Professional Networking, and Assertive Communication.

Virtual Webinars on important topics like The Hidden Job Market, Making Decisions During Crisis, Positive Actions and Training During Crisis, Targeting your Resume to a Job Ad, How To Succeed on the Job, Financial Empowerment Counsellors will be available by appointment. Finally, have a Mock Interview with a Recruitment Advisor who will assist you in finding a job.

This two-week course will help you build the confidence and skills required to navigate the basics of how to use a computer. Use these skills to apply for a job, or to help your children or grandchildren with their homework - Join us!

What you can expect to learn:

  • How to use and troubleshoot issues with your device
  • How to navigate the internet and computer programs with confidence
  • How to use the keyboard and mouse
  • How to use basic MS Word (e.g. use formatting functions to write a letter)
  • How to use Google Docs
  • How to download applications
  • How to use web-based forms: e.g. renewing a driver’s license, online banking
  • How to search for information online
  • How to look at and apply for jobs on indeed & create a LinkedIn profile
  • How to use email: how to write, respond to, forward, and delete an email; how to share and attach files.

Honorarium:
Participants that complete all 20 hours and course assignments are *eligible to receive a tablet or $200 honorarium.

Customer Service Heroes: Building Your Customer Service Leadership Skills 

This 4-week course is for people who want to build on and advance their customer service skills and experience. The course will use real-world problems and challenges to help to build and refine customer service skills. The course will be highly experiential and involve small group and independent work. The course will include the following topics:

  • Building the customer relationship
  • Learning from past customer service experienced to improve future service
  • Problem solving with customers: understanding the customer's perspective, active listening and asking questioning
  • Fixing customer problems forever - how to determine what is a one off issue and what is an ongoing problem
  • Tackling ongoing customer service problems at work  - developing your solution and presenting them to management
  • Delivering over and above customer service - how to surprise and delight customers

Who should take this program:

This course is designed for people with existing customer service experience, who seek to build on their skills and develop enhanced customer service and problem solving skills and practices.

Requirements and expectations:

This is a dedicated course that will require 6+ hours of work per week (group and individual). Participation is weekly teaching calls and small groups are required.  The course is designed to provide participants with exercises and experiences to build practical customer service skills and strategies for the workplace.

Participation in all 4 weeks of the course is an expectation. Please complete the attached registration questions. We will use your answers to help tailor the program to your interests and goals.

Honorarium:
Participants who attend all 4 weeks are *eligible to receive a $200 honorarium. *Eligibility is at the sole discretion of HTA75. Honorariums are offered as a one-time incentive only. Participants who have received an honorarium or tablet from another HTA75 training are not eligible a second time.

Designing Your Future: Planning and Advancing Your Goals

This course is for people who want to get clarity and take action toward their future goals. The course includes a weekly teaching call led by an instructor, a small peer group call and an additional Q+A call. Participants will receive a workbook with lessons and exercises that will accompany the weekly teaching call and be supported by the small group call.

In this program you will:

  • Identify your work related and personal goals
  • Identify and describe your transferable skills, assets and experience
  • Build a positive self-image and mindset to pursue your goals
  • Build confidence and skills to support your future goals, including employment and career planning
  • Develop and implement a specific action plan to advance your goals
  • Take action towards your goals with the support of the group

Course duration: 8 weeks

This program is great for those who are seeking to get clarity and take action towards your goals with dedication, focus and the support of a group.

Driver's Training - HTA75 Can Help You Get Your Certification

Get your driver's training certificate with employment services! Many jobs require a driver's license, let us help you!

There are currently 1000+ job postings in the GTA that require a driver's license. HTA75 is happy to provide support and training to get your driving certificate from a ministry approved driving school (and save on insurance rates)!

*You must register for employment services in order to be approved for driver's training. You must also attend a mandatory information session, held every Tuesday at 10am and 1pm. Once you register, a HTA75 staff will contact you.*

About this training:

  • November 23rd to 26th, 2020
  • *Must be available for in-person/in-class training (COVID-19 precautions in place)*
  • Training will be held at Broadview/Danforth area
  • Monday - Thursday, 9am - 2pm (in-class)
  • Includes 10 hours of in-car driving lessons with instructor (vehicle not required), will be scheduled at your convenience
  • G1 license ideal, but not required
  • Upon completion, HTA75 will provide employment support

Financial Management Workshop: COVID-19 Government Benefit Changes

This 90-minute workshop will review the recent COVID-19 government financial benefit updates to provide you with the clarity and dialogue you deserve!

Now that CERB is ending we will discuss the transition to the new government benefits along with the qualification details.

Forklift Training Program - New Operator Training

Beginner/Entry Level

Forklift Program designed for new operators entering the forklift workforce, those who have minimal experience operating a forklift and /or seeking to upgrade their skills to other types of lift equipment, requires good eyesight to comfortably and safely operate vehicles.

About this training:

  • November 2nd - November 7th, 2020 (additional dates available)
  • Must be available for in-person/in-class training (COVID-19 precautions in place)
  • Training will be offered at two locations at your convenience (Mississauga or Scarborough)

Digital Tablet Basics

This is an introductory course for digital tablet users with little or no experience using tablets. Participants will learn to connect to wifi, change tablet settings, download apps, take and edit photos, and more.

This course would be useful for any parents who are anticipating that their children will be doing some distance-education who may be asked to use a tablet, and want to be prepared to support their children’s educational needs.

Have you received the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS) and are now required to pay back CERB? This special addition to your Financial Management Workshops is for you! Unite Here Local 75 and Hospitality Training Action Centre 75 have heard your concerns and they want to help!

This 90-minute workshop will provide information on paying back CERB if you have received the CEWS.

COVID Emergency Benefits: How to Understand them and Maximize Your Finances

This 90-minute workshop will provide information about government benefits, tax considerations related to CERB, how to maximize you finances in 2020 and in the future. Stress Management & Wellness (Two Part Series)

Part 1 – Identifying and Settling Stress in the Body & Building Awareness

In this workshop you will learn how to recognize how your body holds stress, how to soothe and notice safety and settling in your system.

You will also learn how to build awareness of stress in your body, external environment as wellas stressful and internal dialogue and narrative. The session will include strategies and practices to increase awareness and lessen the impact of stress.

Learning Objectives:

  • Definition of stress and trauma in terms of the Autonomic Nervous System (fight, flight, freeze, tend-and-befriend)

Part 2 – Managing Stressful Thoughts & Focusing on My Assets

In this workshop you will learn how to recognize and be aware of the thoughts we have that can cause us stress and anxiety. The session will include strategies and practices to increase awareness of these thoughts, create space between us and the thoughts and lessen the power of stressful thoughts on our well-being.

You will also learn how to recognize and identity your personal assets and strengths. The session will include practices to increase awareness of our assets and strengths and how we can use then to move towards our goals and increase our well-being.
